Creating Hope: Saturday
Saturday March 20, 2021
Created by Marcella McCurdy

In the book of Ephesians, the verse 1:18 (NIV) states “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened: that ye may know what the hope of his calling is, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.”
Devotion
What does this mean? It means God has purposed and called us to hope on the Earth. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines hope as to expect with confidence, to want something to happen or be true, or to trust. Therefore, the Christian believer can have trust and confidence in God. Romans 15:13 states “Now the God of hope, fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Hope can be created by the spirit and by praying. In Greek, the word for hope is ἐλπίδος. This means expectation — abstractly or concretely — or confidence (Greek accordance Software). Therefore, by the spirit, one can create the expectation or hope in their lives by being in relationship with God.
Hope can be created by the belief and reading scriptures about hope. It’s in the daily devotional where the holy spirit can reveal more to you about hope in your personal life. The walk of a Christian believer is a day-to-day experience, and through experience hope can be built in your life by depending on and trusting God. Creating hope is like building a physical muscle. One works at physical muscle building daily. Hope is the same way; it is a daily and consistent spiritual muscle that is being built up in the life of the believer every day. Good news is the Holy Spirit is there with you, inside you to create hope in your life and hope in the lives of others who come in contact with you. As Jesse Jackson would say “Keep hope alive.”
Prayer
Good and gracious God, help us to find hope in this weary season. Amen.
