Psalm 71:14 (KJV)

“But I will hope continually and will yet praise thee more and more.”

Devotion

In the Thomas Chain Reference Bible Psalms 71:14 states “But I will hope continually and will yet praise thee more and more.” When it comes to habits of hope the first step is to have a daily devotional reading about hope. There are many scriptures that reference hope. Reading about hope will get into your mind, body, and soul. One should internalize hope with a daily reading about hope. As the saying goes, as a man thinketh so is he. If a person thinks about hope, then hope will consume their thoughts. According to the website Psychology Today, small, specific actions are more likely to become habitual (The Science of Habits).

One should be intentional and have a daily plan to read one scripture, article, poem, or listen to a song about hope. This small daily action over time will create the habit of hope. Additionally, with all the great technology today in 2021, one could listen to YouTube videos about hope, a podcast about hope, or a Facebook live session that discusses hope. Hope is a powerful emotion. Hope can overcome the fear emotion. If one develops the hope habit it can help to overcome fear thoughts and help one with the spiritual battle of the mind. At times negative thoughts can come into one’s mind but if the habit of hope is built it can counteract and provide thoughts of hope. Thoughts of hope are very significant during trying times. Therefore, it is wise to build the hope habit when things are going well for you because in a time of need it will be automatic to the brain and the mind to think thoughts of hope.
