Mark 9:23 (NRSV)

“Jesus said to him, “If you are able! — All things can be done for the one who believes.”

Devotion

It is easy to find discouragement when hardships occur in your life. These hardships might have led to you asking yourself, “Why is this happening to me? What if it doesn’t get better?” Questions like these can often lead to us getting caught in a cycle of negativity and distress. In moments like these, it is important to believe that amidst these hardships, whether it’s related to unemployment, COVID-19, academics, or social issues, that Christ is present with us and that the hardships will come to pass. We have to keep our heads held high and believe that Christ, the same one who made the blind see, cured people of leprosy, and performed many other miracles, is still with us even during these precarious times. As Christ said, all things can be done for those who believe.

Good and gracious God, help us to find hope in this weary season. Amen.
