2 Timothy 1:6–7 (ESV)

6“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

In this piece of scripture, we are reminded of something that is inside of all of us: this gift from God, this flame we hold, that gives our spirit power, love, and self-control. While it may have been a struggle to feel these gifts after this last year, there are still ways that you can feel and use these gifts that we have been given, and forge hope from hopelessness with them. We have the power to destroy the hatred that divides and lift others up. We all have the ability to love one another unconditionally and relentlessly. We can control ourselves to do the righteous, loving thing instead of the one that leads to self gain. This gift that God gave to us doesn’t just give us the ability to continue moving forward during tough times, it also gives us the chance to be the reason someone else continues to move forward as well.
