Hope within Creation: Saturday

“And God said, ‘Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.’ And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.”

Devotion

I love the majesty of the mountains. They show their changes over time, and you cannot help but wonder what it took for them to look like they do and the processes to get there. I do not think that people take enough time to stop and think about how much time it takes for a mountain to form. It takes centuries for a mountain to forge and so much shifting to get there. I am always amazed at the continuous work of God’s hand in nature. Mountains are an example of God’s work over centuries and shows how God is still forming and changing the world.

Change in us is like the shaping of mountains. It is a slow process, but at the end, we get to see something beautiful. Change is not easy and can be painful at times. We cannot see the results when we want and do not see the change we have gone through until we are through it. We have hope in God in our constant changes and development.

Our world is constantly changing. Hope in God is the faith that God will lead us through this change. We see new developments every day, but cannot see the result. Hope helps us push through that uncertainty until we get to the other side and see how far we have come.

Mountains are an example of the change of the earth over centuries. We see ourselves changing over time and continue to do so until the end of time.

Prayer

Good and gracious God, help us to find hope in this weary season. Amen.
