Psalm 139:13–14 (NIV)

“For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.”

Devotion

If you’re anything like me, you may struggle with self-esteem. You may find it difficult to accept your individual imperfections: physical or otherwise. You may struggle with feeling like you are strong enough, pretty enough, tall enough, skinny enough. Just enough.

Just like all of the animals, plants, and other beautiful things that God has made, we are beloved, a part of God’s beautiful creation! As the psalmist writes, we have each been “fearfully and wonderfully made” by our Loving Creator. Indeed, each and every one of us had been made by God and in the image of God. Beloved, God has created us and we are more than enough.

Knowing that we have been fearfully and wonderfully created by God, we can continue to find hope in God’s creation. In a world that tells us we aren’t enough, we can rest assured that our Creator has made us just the way we are. By the grace of God, we can find hope in knowing that God created and loves each and every one of us.

Prayer

Good and gracious God, help us to find hope in this weary season. Amen.
